Job Description


The Director, Systems Engineer - Security will lead efforts to evaluate current security needs, prioritize and remediate weaknesses in The organization’s security profile and run cybersecurity operations.  Work with the Vice President, Infrastructure Systems to improve processes, craft policies and procedures, and evaluate security technologies.  Provide guidance to the Vice President, Infrastructure Systems on strategy, roadmap, and risk management for the national organization.  Work with our larger member network to council our foodbanks on cybersecurity roadmaps.

Responsibilities:
Lead efforts, with input from the Vice President, Infrastructure, on crafting security policies, procedures, and strategy.
  • Direct and manage vulnerability assessments and remediation efforts.
  • Ensure security audits to determine password policy compliance, endpoint protection, privileged access, etc. are carried out.
  • Lead efforts to ensure cloud architecture incorporates cybersecurity needs. Prioritize and lead efforts to remediate cloud configuration vulnerabilities.
  • Lead annual IT Risk Assessment process that dovetails into the organization’s risk management process and provide input to the Board Risk Subcommittee.
  • Evaluate security technologies as needs are identified. Lead efforts with stakeholders as necessary to implement new security technologies and standards.
  • Lead efforts to continuously develop and enhance the organization’s cybersecurity practice.
  • Cultivate and disseminate knowledge of security best practices within the organization’s and across the Feeding enterprise network, spanning fifty states.
  • Responsible for protecting 2,500 plus endpoints across fifty physical locations.
  • Research and manage emerging vendors/tools and assume point of contact/Subject Matter Expert responsibilities to progress security posture of the organization.
Required Experience and Qualifications:
  • 7+ years relevant work experience.
  • One or more years’ experience supervising and/or leading others.
  • Demonstrated experience in crafting security policies, procedures and standards.
  • Cybersecurity certifications / accreditation a plus.
  • Working knowledge of CrowdStrike a plus.
  • Demonstrated involvement with the security community and possession of security certifications a plus.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to tailor messaging based on audience.
